Key points included aligning financial activities with sustainable development goals, responsible investing, integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors into investment decisions, the significance of green bonds and impact investing, and the challenges and opportunities in transitioning to a sustainable economy. - The City Managers Association- Karnataka (CMAK), Bengaluru is a registered independent society established in December 2002, under the Director of Municipal Administration, Bengaluru, CMAK is a premier membership-based professional body of City Managers and Urban Planners, which strengthen, and enhances the capacities of ULBs and associated members in Urban Planning, Development, and Management. On 11.10.2022, CMAK organized a workshop on “Green Initiatives and Innovative approaches in ULBs” at Vikas Soudha. Among various topic selected for discussion, Urban transport-electrified public transport and non-Motorized transport (NMT) was the key topic. Among the NMT, the public bicycle-sharing system has gained prominence and CMAK has planned to expose the participants to this system. SDM Institute for Management Development and Administrative Training Institute (ATI) have jointly worked on a case study on the public bicycle sharing system (PBSS), successfully implemented in Mysore. The system was named “Trin-Trin”. Knowing this, CMAK approached SDMIMD and ATI for making a presentation at Vikas Soudha on the 11th. The team that has worked on the case study includes Dr. Sunil M.V. Assistant Professor and Academic Head-Administration, Dr. Srilakshminarayana G, Associate Professor-Quantitative Methods, and Mr. Chetan of ATI. The team was invited for making the presentation and Dr. Srilakshminarayana G presented the case on behalf of the team. He introduced to the participants the concept of NMT and the Trin-Trin case. The discussion included aspects related to the planning, implementation, and sustenance of the PBSS in the respective cities of the participants. The discussion concluded with a thought-provoking activity that made the participants plan the system in their cities. Participants have appreciated the idea and also the way it is being implemented in Mysore. Participants include administrators, engineers, inspectors, and other officers. A total of 180 attended the workshop.
